Why?

I love tech. I have been working in the tech industry for more than 12 years. When AI first came up, I thought it could really be a benefit for humanity. Think about the possibilities in the medical field: Cancer chance diagnosis, blood analysis, and many other things. Also: Educational purposes, danger predictions, language learning & translation, climate change prediction and prevention and much, much more.

While there may be companies doing that, most of the bigger player don't. Instead AI was trained on the works of artists all around the world. Without permission, without asking. Their style and ideas were simply stolen. Business suits make money with the work of artists who struggle to survive by doing their work. Those companies are driven by greed, they do not care for people.

This ain't right. But also this emerges another problem: By using AI in any kind, be it simply for generating reference images, you support this theft. You support that people which worked years don't get paid and big companies can make money off of that. For that reason alone it is worth to protest and not use any kind of generative AI.

Another tought: is that humanity isn't humanity without original art. With original ideas, emotions and feelings, expression and understanding the current state of the world, relations that no algorithm can gasp in a way a human being does. The Algorythm does not feel the pain of society that we have nowadays, the loneliness or isolation after the pandemic, the struggle a musician puts into his lyrics or the expressions of feelings an artist uses in his strokes. This is what artists did for hundreds, thousands of years. The dull and flooding wave of AI generated images, videos, music, photos, animation, text and much more is destroying "being originally human". It's a greater concept that is abused by using generative AI. There are also a whole lot of other problems with that, like deepfakes, theft, abuse in multiple ways, identity theft, lack of control and regulation, and much more. But I think you get the basic idea of my point.

Apart from all of that, I am just so sick of AI advertisement in software and hardware and then just realising that it is just hot air - you not? What's the point for all of this? It does not only feel like a big bubble, it's the same corporations that gave you hollow promises for years. It's the same old story. It's all about money, greed, control. We have way too many corporations and not enough real businesses nowadays. And the only person who can change that is you.
